Lady Boom Boom figure parmi les rares artistes à jouir d’une présence tant sur la scène du bar Le Cocktail, du Cabaret Mado, du complexe Sky, du District video lounge que du bar Le Drague, l’enceinte qui l’a vu naître. À l’hiver 2017, Lady Boom Boom participait à MX Fierté Canada, le méga-concours pancanadien qu’avait lancé Rita Baga, à l’issu duquel j’ai dit d’elle, dans le cadre de mon compte-rendu hebdomadaire : « lorsqu’on la voit performer, on se rend compte que son nom de scène n’est pas né du hasard: Boom, c’est ce qu’elle provoque dès qu’elle foule les planches. » S’il y a bien une chose qui n’a pas changé ces dernières années, c’est cette rage de la scène. Lady Boom Boom nous partageait récemment sur Facebook « qu’après un aussi long moment sans pouvoir performer », elle se rend compte à quel point la scène est un besoin pour elle. Heureusement, nous pourrons la voir évoluer sur la scène du Cabaret Mado dans le cadre du spectacle virtuel nouveau genre, En direct de ton wifi, proposé par Rainbow et qui aura lieu le samedi 21 novembre, également en compagnie de Miss Butterfly et Tracy Trash. D’ici-là, je vous invite à plonger dans l’univers de cette boule d’énergie.

Lady Boom Boom is one of the few artists to have a presence on the stage of Le Cocktail bar, Cabaret Mado, the Sky, District video lounge and Le Drague, the venue where she was born. In the winter of 2017, Lady Boom Boom participated in MX Pride Canada, the mega competition launched by Rita Baga, after which I said of her in my weekly review: « when you see her perform, you realize that her stage name is not born by chance: Boom is what she provokes as soon as she steps on the stage. » If there’s one thing that hasn’t changed in recent years, it’s that stage rage. Lady Boom Boom recently shared on Facebook that « after not being able to perform for so long, » she realizes how much she needs to perform. Fortunately, we will be able to see her perform on the Cabaret Mado stage as part of Rainbow’s new virtual show, En direct de ton wifi, which will take place on Saturday, November 21, also with Miss Butterfly and Tracy Trash. Lady Boom Boom ne s’en cache pas, elle a grandi en consommant RuPaul’s drag race. C’est sans doute ce qui a fait germer chez elle prématurément le désir de devenir drag-queen. En effet, dès l’adolescence, Lady Boom Boom se transformait en drag, à quelques occasions, lorsqu’elle faisait des soirées pyjama avec des amies. Ses débuts officiels ont toutefois eu lieu au tournant de sa majorité. Avant même sa première présence au bar Le Drague où elle a offert un numéro sur la chanson Feed me diamonds, Lady Boom Boom avait déjà une garde-robe en banque et une trousse de maquillage prête. Cette première incursion sur scène venait après quelques tentatives incognito afin de tâter le terrain, notamment comme danseuse.

Lady Boom Boom does not hide it, she grew up consuming RuPaul’s drag race. This is probably what made her want to become a drag queen. In fact, as a teenager, Lady Boom Boom would transform herself into drag on a few occasions when she was having sleepovers with friends. Her official debut, however, came around the time she came of age. Even before her first appearance at the bar Le Drague where she performed a number to the song Feed me diamonds, Lady Boom Boom already had a wardrobe in the bank and a makeup kit ready. This first foray on stage came after a few incognito attempts to test the waters, notably as a dancer.

Ce premier tour de piste fut le début d’une longue histoire d’amour avec le bar Le Drague alors qu’elle fut présente tous les dimanches suivants lors de la soirée Majeur et vacciné qu’animait Réglisse à l’époque lors de laquelle une portion était destinée aux nouveaux talents. Lady Boom Boom y travailla d’ailleurs près de 4 ans derrière le bar. Cette autre perspective du métier lui aura permis d’explorer diverses facettes de son alter ego, notamment en travaillant sa gestuelle et en essayant de looks & des agencements. Cela aura été l’occasion d’en apprendre davantage sur elle.

This first run was the beginning of a long love affair with the bar Le Drague as she was present every following Sunday at the Majeur et vacciné evening hosted by Réglisse at the time, where a portion was dedicated to new talent. Lady Boom Boom worked behind the bar for almost 4 years. This different perspective of the business allowed her to explore various facets of her alter ego, notably by working on her gestures and trying out looks & arrangements. It was an opportunity to learn more about her.

Le parcours familial de Lady Boom Boom ne fut pas un long fleuve tranquille. Aujourd’hui, elle est la fille de Jimmy Moore. Toutefois, Lady Boom Boom accorde une place importante à sa famille de cœur, c’est-à-dire des gens du milieu qui l’ont suivi tout au long de sa carrière et qui ont figuré auprès d’elle tant du côté professionnel que personnel. On peut penser notamment à Zayra, sa mère spirituelle qui agit comme un mentor, et Aizysse Baga, sa sœur provenant d’une autre mère.

Lady Boom Boom’s family journey was not a smooth one. Today, she is the daughter of Jimmy Moore. However, Lady Boom Boom places a lot of importance on her heart family, that is to say, people in the industry who have followed her throughout her career and who have been with her both professionally and personally. These include Zayra, her spiritual mother who acts as a mentor, and Aizysse Baga, her sister from another mother.

Si nous pouvons voir autant Lady Boom Boom sur scène, c’est qu’elle a su saisir les opportunités. Sa première incursion dans la métropole s’est faite à l’époque alors qu’elle accompagnait Dream qui venait présenter un numéro à la défunte soirée Bagalicious. Elle eut l’opportunité d’y présenter un numéro elle aussi. Toutefois, la consécration est venue lorsqu’elle fut retenue afin de participer à Ils de jour, elles de nuit que relayait ICI ARTV. Côtoyer Rita Baga, dans le cadre de la production, lui aura ouvert la voie du Cabaret Mado. De fil en aiguille, son chemin a fini par croiser celui de Mado Lamotte, qui assurait la narration de l’émission. Au moment du tournage du docu-réalité, Lady Boom Boom prenait part au concours Miss Cocktail qu’elle a d’ailleurs remporté. Son opportunité professionnelle au Sky s’est présenté après le passage d’Emma Déjàvu dans la vielle-capitale. Elle-même barmaid au complexe Sky, elle avait repéré Lady Boom Boom. Elle aimait son approche avec la clientèle et la manière dont elle se comportait derrière le bar. Cela aura permis à Lady Boom Boom de joindre l’équipe du mythique établissement du village et ce, quelques mois avant son déménagement à Montréal.

If we can see so much Lady Boom Boom on stage, it’s because she knew how to seize the opportunities. Her first foray into the metropolis was when she accompanied Dream who came to perform at the now defunct Bagalicious. She had the opportunity to present a number there too. However, the consecration came when she was selected to participate in Ils de jour, elles de nuit that was broadcasted by ICI ARTV. Joining Rita Baga in the production opened the door to Cabaret Mado. One thing led to another and she ended up crossing paths with Mado Lamotte, who was the program’s narrator. At the time of the docu-reality show, Lady Boom Boom was taking part in the Miss Cocktail contest, which she won. Her professional opportunity at Sky came about after Emma Déjàvu’s visit to the Old Capital. As a bartender at the Sky, she had spotted Lady Boom Boom. She liked her approach to customers and the way she handled herself behind the bar. This allowed Lady Boom Boom to join the team of the mythical village establishment a few months before she moved to Montreal.

Parmi les grands moments qui ont jalonné sa carrière, Lady Boom Boom souline sa première participation au spectacle phare de la programmation de Fierté, Illusion, mené par Michel Dorion. Elle mentionne également sa première présence dans les rangs du défilé de la Fierté sous la bannière du bar le Cocktail. Elle se remémore également son apparition au Grand rire de Québec dans un numéro de l’humoriste Philippe Bond. Elle nous rappelle ses deux performances aux côtés des vedettes de RuPaul’s drag race Aquaria et Noami Smalls. L’un de ses moments les plus marquants demeure sans doute son baptême de la Place d’Youville à l’occasion de la Fête Arc-en-ciel. Combien de spectacles de drag était-elle aller y voir sans s’imaginer qu’un jour elle y serait à son tour?

Among the great moments that marked her career, Lady Boom Boom highlights her first participation in the flagship show of the Pride program, Illusion, led by Michel Dorion. She also mentions her first appearance in the Pride Parade under the banner of the Cocktail Bar. She also recalls her appearance at the Grand rire de Québec in a number by comedian Philippe Bond. She recalls her two performances with RuPaul’s drag stars Aquaria and Noami Smalls. One of her most memorable moments is undoubtedly her baptism of Place d’Youville during the Fête Arc-en-ciel. Parmi ses inspirations, Lady Boom Boom nous parle de Lady Gaga, pour l’ensemble de ton œuvre, mais également Jennifer Lopez, Rita Ora ainsi que Penelope Gwen, dans une perspective plus internationale, sinon, d’un point de vue plus local, elle souligne notamment l’influence de Matante Alex, Pétula Claque, Sasha Baga et Viola von Venom.

Among her inspirations, Lady Boom Boom talks about Lady Gaga, for the whole of your work, but also Jennifer Lopez, Rita Ora as well as Penelope Gwen, in a more international perspective, otherwise, from a more local point of view, she underlines in particular the influence of Matante Alex, Pétula Claque, Sasha Baga and Viola von Venom.

Les deux dernières années de Lady Boom Boom à Québec lui auront permis de compléter ses études en couture. Elle se dit ravie de pouvoir compter cette nouvelle corde à son arc artistique. The last two years of Lady Boom Boom in Quebec City have allowed her to complete her studies in sewing. She says she is delighted to have this new string to her artistic bow. Speaking of clothing, you are invited to get the sweater with her effigy, now available at the Mistr Bear boutique.
